Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION – DUTIES

 

Supervision

  • Hire:Select the best-qualified candidate in coordination with the Director of Manufacturing. The Director of Manufacturing will conduct initial interviews and department supervisor to confirm hire.
  • Orient and Train:Provide thorough orientation for the employee covering product and equipment instructions. Continually communicate with employees and conduct training as needed to improve employee performance.
  • Work Assignment:Assign duties to employees, clearly explaining how those duties should be performed. (i.e., specifying performance expectations) and how successful performance will be measured.
  • Performance Evaluation:Complete written performance evaluations. Performance expectations and employee results should be communicated regularly, addressing issues that need to be corrected as well as recognizing good performance.
  • Reward Performance:Recommend performance awards and/or merit increases when appropriate. Supervisors will receive information for their eligible employees for these programs.
  • Approving Time Records and Requests for Time off:Review weekly agency time and attendance records and approve requests for time off. Your signature on a time record indicates concurrence with recorded hours, including any overtime worked or time taken off. Supervisors provide the first level of approval for time off, While the Plant Manager and VP of QA/RA will be the final approval for time off request.
  • Resolve Complaints:Help employees address and resolve a wide variety of concerns and complaints. Most of the time this will include referring them to the appropriate department (Department Head, HR, or Payroll for additional assistance) or obtaining assistance on matters before addressing them with the employee. When the resolution is not clear, supervisors are to seek further assistance before advising employees.
  • Disciplinary Actions:Document performance issues annually and maintain written records of performance problems. Dismissals are to be approved by three levels of management. Supervisor should work with Human Resources for any disciplinary or dismissal action.

 

Manufacturing

  • Ensure the production line is set up at the start of the shift and as needed when new work orders begin.
  • Measure daily productivity against targets, documenting actual output and providing suggestions for improvement.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and report malfunctions or inefficiencies to Maintenance immediately provide updates on the progress of repair of equipment.
  • Enter production data on a daily basis.
  • Verify samples and labels, ensuring the information on the work order and DHR.
  • Submit attendance sheets within the assigned timeline.
  • Gather materials in advance and verify required amounts are ready before beginning work order.
  • Prepare materials and contact Warehouse to return unused materials to inventory after work order are completed. Complete all documentation and submit to assigned person before leaving for the day
  • Ensure machines and equipment are cleaned by the end of the shift and stored property.
  • Supervise that safety conditions in manufacturing areas are adequate.
  • Maintain professional knowledge in GMP, GDP, gowning, six sigma, 5S, and lean manufacturing.
  • Ability to understand and create reports in productivity, waste reduction, manpower, stream mapping.

 

Additional Responsibilities: Supervisors are also responsible for developing staff, mentoring by providing career coaching, and motivating the team both individually and as a group. Supporting diversity and establishing effective team dynamics is essential.
